During the activity Lunar Phases & Eclipses, which is ideal for grades 5-7, students will explore the eight phases of the moon as well as solar and lunar eclipses. This activity challenges students to understand eclipses through building a model.

By the end of the activity students should be able to:

• Understand the orbit of the Earth and its moon
• Understand why the moon changes phases
• Describe the phases of the moon
• Explain solar and lunar eclipse
